If you follow fashion, you probably know how ubiquitous fashion-related content is in the media. Between fashion magazines, celebrity tabloids and 24-hour celebrity gossip on cable television, it can be tough for a clothing design news junkie to keep up.

Those in fashion school are particularly keen to stay up-to-date on the best fashion news, but where do you find the most credible, useful fashion news? Sorry, but it's probably not on an episode of "Queer Eye," or even "Project Runway."

Fashion Magazines and Blogs: Your Go-To Sources for the Latest Trends
Find real fashion news in clothing design industry publications like Women's Wear Daily, or WWD as it's known in the industry. Here you'll find all the leading fashion-related news, such as the latest trends in luxury goods, or what Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren or other leading designers are doing that's edgy, innovative, or just plain savvy. WWD also features stories on other areas of the fashion industry, such as cosmetics and accessories like costume jewelry and designer handbags.

More and more people from every segment of business get their news from weblogs, or blogs. Okay, so it's not real news, but it can be useful nonetheless. You'll find interesting tidbits on blogs that many publications are too conservative to publish. There are lots of fashion blogs out there, so read a few and find the ones that suite your style palette.

Fashion News at Fashion School
You can also learn about the latest in the fashion industry from your fashion school instructors. Many of them may even be working in the field, so can share first-hand knowledge. Your instructors can also recommend clothing design publications that cover your specific interests, whether it's womenswear, menswear, sportswear or eveningwear.

Following clothing design news is also a good way to prepare for your career in fashion. You'll learn a lot of useful things in fashion school, but you still need a comprehensive knowledge of the industry, and you won't get that from a patternmaking book.

Start investing in your future career in fashion by finding the best publications for leading fashion industry news. Learn who the biggest players are behind the scenes, and prepare for a career in fashion that meets your greatest ambitions.
