Would You Like a Fashion Career Designing for Young Children?

When I was a young girl in the seventies there wasn't much fashion design for children. As a teenager in the eighties, I was sadly allowed to experiment with fashion - but leg warmers and fluorescent pink didn't really suit me. Today, most little girls are self-styled fashion experts by the age of ten. Budding fashion designers should keep this in mind when going to fashion college or planning their fashion career.

Today's Fashion Starts with Young Children

There is simply no avoiding the fact that children, particularly young girls, are interested in clothes and fashion design today. The arrival of fashion dolls like Bratz and Myscene means that some little girls' first words are fashion words. In terms of designer and sports labels, young boys are not far behind.

In fact today, babies are often seen as a fashion accessory and dressed accordingly. The globalization of marketing and production means that most parents can afford to cloth their children in fashionable, fun clothes at relatively little expense.

Think about Fashion Design for Children at Fashion College or Before

Whatever your background, you will probably know by now if you have what it takes to be a fashion designer. If you do, and you are looking at fashion colleges online, you will also probably have started work on your portfolio. If you have flair in this area, you could try to carve a niche for yourself in children's fashion design now with a view to your future fashion career.

Today's fashion for children needs to be colorful, practical, and fun. There is a huge range of websites today selling fashion for children, offering you fun opportunities for research. You will find that styles and prices range from the sublime to the ridiculous, but hey - that's today's fashion for you!
