At the Oscars there will always be winners and losers - and I'm talking about the dresses here. But do you think you could have done better? This year's Oscars saw dresses by fashion designers worldwide, all of which started as graduates of fashion schools. If you think you have the talent for a career in fashion design, and the determination, you need to start by looking online for the right degree.

Is a Career in Fashion Design Right for You?

Not everyone can enjoy a career in fashion design, and still fewer end up designing dresses for movie stars. With only 15,000 fashion designers recorded in the US in 2002 (BLS), it might seem easier to win an Oscar.

The truth is, while many people still view fashion design and fashion shows as elitist, proper fashion design can make anyone look and feel like a million dollars. Look how many expensive fashion designers are bringing out "budget" ranges this season.
