"Idol" Fantasia to Perform at 2004 Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards
June 05, 2004 Taking a cue from the entertainment industry, the fashion world is going to stand up and pat itself on the back next week as the Council of Fashion Designers of America hosts its annual awards show. Fantasia Barrino of "American Idol" fame will perform. A "who's who" list of honorees includes Sarah Jessica Parker, Donna Karan, Irving Penn, and Miuccia Prada among others. Nominees for womenswear designer of the year are Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors and Ralph Rucci. Kors, Sean Combs for Sean John and Ralph Lauren are nominated for menswear designer of the year. Past winners include the usual suspects... Calvin Klein, Helmut Lang, Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, and Tommy Hilfiger. Some strange honorees in past years include Katharine Hepburn, Hush Puppies, and Nancy Reagan (Nancy Reagan?). "Council of Fashion Designers"??????? Sounds like something out of Zoolander. |
