In September, the usual frenzy to find out about spring/summer fashion 2006 has been overshadowed by the revelations about Kate Moss. Fashion icon and the epitome of cool, many designers cite her as their muse and the inspiration for their degrees and subsequent fashion design careers. Since the recent fall and rise of Donatella Versace, there have been few illusions about the presence of drugs in fashion. You may not learn about this in your fashion degree .

A fashion degree, or any other degree, cannot teach you how to live your life. However a fashion degree can provide you with the creative, technical, and business skills needed for a fashion design career.

You will cover principles of design, garment construction, textiles, flat pattern drafting, color palettes, drawing, sewing, draping and computer-aided design. Many fashion design degrees also cover the business side of things - merchandising, marketing and project management. You should leave your fashion degree with the portfolio you need to for entry-level fashion design careers.

Inspiration for Fashion Design Careers and Spring/summer Fashion 2006

The majority of people with fashion degrees and fashion design careers are clean living. They've worked too hard on their fashion design careers to throw it all away. For most fashion degree graduates, the real buzz of a fashion design career is in seeing their designs on the runway and in the high street. The new spring/summer 2006 lines are a perfect example and a source of inspiration.

Several fashion designers have come to the defense of Kate Moss, citing her as inspiration for their careers and even forthcoming spring/summer 2006 collections. Perhaps Kate's current torment will serve to highlight the long hours - and the party lifestyle, that take their toll on models in particular. Let's hope Kate will be back on form by the time the spring-summer collections are upon us. After all, fashion is all about rebirth.
