Fashion design schools are seeing an increase in male enrollment in fashion degree programs, and fields like fashion merchandising are seeing the fruits of their labor.

Fashionable Examples
Tracy Fredkin and Doug NeJaime are two fashion designers who moved from Boston to Los Angeles. Their biggest move, however, was from from law careers to fashion design. The gamble paid off. They now have a great fashion merchandising business designing handbags, which they named after their cat, "Paisley."

These two men represent a growing trend in fashion design. Sure, men have been involved in design and merchandising for years. But the number of men who are attending fashion school and starting careers in fashion is growing, as men all over the world learn how to use their talents and express themselves through fashion.

Fashion For Each Sex
To all fashion career hopefuls from LA to Milan: fashion school isn't just for women. Fashion schools across the globe have seen male enrollment increase, along with a interest in sewing and garment production. One Australian fashion design school awarded a male student with a perfect score on a jacket design, an unprecedented honor. So all you fashion-conscious guys, get to fashion school and start designing! You'll be in good company.

Even mega movie-maker Steven Spielberg wants in on the fashion action. He's producing a dramatic series for television based on the fashion industry. And don't forget the illustrious Tim Gunn, Bravo's Project Runway star and the impresario of one of New York's top fashion schools.

And of course there's Armani, Saint Laurent, and Ford. Just in case you forgot them.

Fashion School For All
Bottom line? Fashion school is for everyone! A fashion degree is about building expertise, a portfolio, and a network. Oh, and a fashion career, which is something at which both men and women can excel.
