Hotels are no longer just places to crash at the end of the day. As travelers become more stylish and sophisticated, they expect the same from their hotel. As a result, many hotel chains have plunked down plenty of cash to become chic havens for style conscious travelers.

Fashion Beyond the Front Desk
For these stylish inns, the fashion statement starts at the front desk. The W Hotel brand, known for its chic urban design and furnishings, now offers employee fashions designed by Michael Kors. In New York, Hotel Mela Anne Bowen has designed employee fashions that evoke "007" style. She calls it a "sophisticated and ultra-hip" look.

Fresh Design
In May, the Kimpton's Hotel Monaco rolled out Cynthia Rowley-designed fashions for all front desk personnel, concierge, doormen, and housekeeping staff. Niki Leondakis, COO of Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants said, "The mix of vibrant, fresh colors, and eclectic design of our new employee attire remains consistent with the innovative and distinctive design of the Hotel Monacos. For us, this creative partnership is truly a perfect fit."

When designing clothing meant to be worn at work, there's more to consider than simply looks. The classes you take at fashion school not only teach you what looks great, but what works great as well. With this trend of blending fashion into all facets of life, career options for a fashion school design graduate are haute.
