They strove to recover a garment as the jacket to become a symbol of the identity of the "Armani Casa". His trademark fashion designs were re-interpretations of the traditional business suit; relaxed designs for women?s clothing are inspired by men's wear clothing also using men's wear fabrics in his sophisticated, unstructured jackets and suits for women. With this approach, Armani has established a new standard of understated elegance: easy-fit garments for women precisely cut and beautifully tailored.
In the 1980s, he dressed the actor Richard Gere in the famous movie "American Gigolo". He was one of the first fashion designers to approach celebrities to wear his designs. Success was knocking the door loudly.
In 1982, Armani became the first fashion designer to appear on the cover of Time magazine since Christian Dior in the 1940s.
Classic, minimalist, sexy, stylish and easy are adjectives that best define Armani's style and the qualities that made him one of the preferred fashion designers by movie stars. If anyone would pay him a dollar for every Armani Tuxedo that the Mecca has worn in a film, Giorgio Armani would have been billionaire since many years ago.
War is an anguishing distant memory. He is one of the preeminent Italian fashion designers in the world; he still remains going strong after more than 30 years in this wonderful fashion industry.
In May 2002, Italian Fashion Designer Giorgio Armani had the opportunity of healing the profound damages war had made to the little child he was once.
He was NAMED UNHCR GOODWILL AMBASSADOR by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees by High Commissioner Ruud Lubbers.
In such a motivating occasion Mr. Armani said appreciating the opportunity to help UNHCR. "I am particularly committed to assisting young refugees gain the means to rebuild their lives; after all, children are our future."
