London has a wonderfully offbeat and forward way of thinking about fashion design, making it the perfect place to host Swatch Alternative Fashion Week, a week of shows and contests which celebrate counterculture fashion. Burlesque underwear, punky spiked denim jackets and more made an appearance at this year's event. University students from every fashion design school in London were challenged to create collections with the theme of "Time." A standout collection was one that used vintage fabrics in modern styles. Winners are given money, scholarships and internship opportunities in the fashion design industry.
