TopShop, a must for locals and tourists alike, offers all kinds of cute clothes at cheap prices. Actress Gwenyth Paltrow has admitted to buying staples like tops and underwear at TopShop, which has a number of locations throughout London and the UK. Although it may sound like a knockoff or defect bin, TopShop offers regular couture collections and a style assistant personal shopping service.

If you're in the mood for high fashion design, head straight for Bond Street. Here you'll find Gucci, Armani and plenty of Royal Warrant holders, who outfit the royal family of Britain. Hit up Seven Dials for shoes and independent fashion, and discover vintage clothes and piercing/tattoo shops in Camden Town.

Shows and More

London has a wonderfully offbeat and forward way of thinking about fashion design, making it the perfect place to host Swatch Alternative Fashion Week, a week of shows and contests which celebrate counterculture fashion. Burlesque underwear, punky spiked denim jackets and more made an appearance at this year's event. University students from every fashion design school in London were challenged to create collections with the theme of "Time." A standout collection was one that used vintage fabrics in modern styles. Winners are given money, scholarships and internship opportunities in the fashion design industry. You'll have plenty of opportunities to compete for your place in fashion design while going to a fashion design school in London.
