The Walt Disney Company is expanding its empire to include wedding dresses. While brides have been celebrating their fairy tale nuptials at the Magic Kingdom for years, it's now possible to wear a design that Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty might have worn to marry Prince Charming.

The Interpretation of Design
Whether or not you have a Disney wedding, you can wear a couture gown inspired by Disney princesses without looking like a cartoon character. Designed by fashion designer Kirstie Kelly, the high-fashion gowns express the emotional life of the Disney princess characters, rather than mimic their distinct fashion styles. As Kelly demonstrates, when you're prepared for a career in fashion design, you can find inspiration everywhere.

Iconic Fashions Come Alive
One of the gowns inspired by The Little Mermaid is fitted with a fluted bottom that pools delicately in the back, bringing to mind a fishtail. The shimmery silk dress features a form fitted bodice, halter straps, and mermaid skirt. This elegant and sophisticated collection features four other mermaid fashion designs.

The Sleeping Beauty dress comes in six designs. One interpretation features a fitted bodice and full skirt with train. It's made with georgette chantilly and high-shine satin. Pearl and crystal embellishments complete the look.

Beauty and the Beast's Belle provides the inspiration for a collection of five gowns, including an off-the-shoulder champagne design with asymmetrical gathered hem, and another featuring a skirt with delicate tulle rosette embellishments.

Other collections draw inspiration from Cinderella, Jasmine, and Snow White. Gowns range from an elegant silk tulle with duchesse satin and crystals to a satin column dress with bodice gathering and lace. There's lot involved in creating couture gowns, and when you study for a career in fashion, you'll have the chance to find your muses in all aspects of your life.
