There's a fun story in the Modesto Bee ("Modesto High student creates garments from garbage") about a creative high school senior who uses recyclables for her fashion designs. Her designs -- which she usually wears to school -- include a halter top made from a pink rubber bath mat, a skirt made from a metallic car sun shade, a purse made out of empty Capri Sun pouches, and a prom dress made out of a shower curtain (with matching hotel shampoo bottle earrings, of course).

"I see things and think, 'I could do something with that!' If I see something lying around, I just pick it up... My style has always been my outlet. It is my way of showing my personality. It allows me to show my confidence through what I wear."

Check out the article to see some photos of her eccentric creations. I'm glad to hear that she has the support of her family, friends, and teachers -- maybe we'll see some of her creations on a runway or a store one day...
