Chinese Fashion Designs Part I

Sometimes when I see the deep necessity some people feel with the auto imposed obligation of "being fashionable", I deeply feel that clothing "fashion designs" are a mundane part of our lives. Perhaps clothing or dressing dominated by the exigency of the "ever changing trends fashions" in our compulsive consumers' habits is the origin of such idea. What gives clothing and fashion designs such a frivolous note is the attitiude of people who recognize feeling desperated by the sole thought of being "out of fashion" or "demode". This feeling is very different than the one which gives us a calm sense of elegance or "style" responding to our personality, without being pressed to follow "the last new trend fashion".
However, it has been widely demonstrated that clothing can be an "expressionist" term. The fact is that in every culture, clothing is one of the most powerful, subliminal and efficient forms of visual communication. Because of acquired habits, or established codes, at any given time and place there are conventional ways of expressing meaning through one's clothing fashion designs. It remains the same perhaps for long periods, but over time when political, technological or fashion changes occur these conventions change. Sometimes slowly, sometimes violently.
Chinese culture fashions weren't an exception.
Perhaps due to my occidental mind I've always found deep inside a sense of sophistication, and fascination when thinking about China. I can imagine memories of ancient traditions, a sense of calm and peace listening to sweet pentatonic music, a sight of beautiful faces, of slow and elegant body movements, a smell of delicate fragrances, a sensation of harmony.
With regard to such a special look, mainly in their beautiful women, perhaps the secret is that Chinese cosmetic has, like many other aspects of their culture, fashions,an ancient tradition. The perfume essences came from jasmine and camellia flowers, almizcle or flavouring patchouli woods. Their aesthetic canons have usually had as a basis the image of a woman which face skin had the maximum care, softly and delicately made up. Since long time ago Chinese art and poetry have profusely reflected this delicate care of Chinese women to aesthetics.
Some fashion experts consider that traditional Chinese clothing fashion designs are not only externally elegant but they also symbolize the Chinese extended culture and communicate their own vitality in each and every piece of them.
