re past the age where we can walk around all summer in tiny denim shorts and bikini tops. That's why it's high time we spotlighted a fashion designer who creates mature, approachable summer clothes with couture touches. Enter Ana Beatriz Lerario, the Brazilian mastermind behind the Lerario Beatriz fashion label. Known for combining casual and modern styles to create a romantic and edgy look, Ana Lerario is all about sophistication.

Fashion Design Foundation
Lerario's career is the quintessential story of working hard, getting the right education, and setting high goals for oneself.

  • She graduated with honors from Brazil's most prestigious fashion design school.
  • She moved to New York, where she continued to study design.
  • After graduating, she landed a prestigious internship at Marc Jacobs.

Moving On Up
After obtaining a solid educational base, Lerario started working her way up the fashion ladder.

  • After reaching clothing designer status at Marc Jacobs, she started working with Jacobs directly on his main line.
  • After four years with Marc Jacobs, Lerario left to work as head designer for TSESAY under the direction of famed fashion designer Richard Chai.

Brazil Has Arrived
When Lerario felt she finally had the fashion know-how in both design and business, she struck out on her own.

  • In September 2004, she opened Fiftytwo Showroom, a wholesale boutique.
  • A year later, she started selling her own collection, Lerario Beatriz.
  • Now, Lerario Beatriz is sold worldwide in places like Barney's New York and Harvey Nichols.

For the aspiring fashion or clothing designer, the road to success can often appear impassable. But Lerario's story, however inspiring, is by no means unusual.
