es the book and film so compelling is that the author, Lauren Weisberger, really did work as a fashion assistant to legendary Vogue editor Anna Wintour. The fictional picture she painted of fashion assisting in The Devil Wears Prada is not a pretty one. Calls at all hours of the day and night, rude comments, not being allowed to use the bathroom or eat...anyone who has read the book or seen the movie can't help but wonder how fictional this work of fiction is.

And you might be wondering...is your first fashion job destined to be hellish, with your boss as the head demon?

While you might start your fashion career fetching coffee and answering phones, the sailing will be much smoother if you have a solid fashion school education from a respected fashion school. Most fashion schools offer placement services for graduates. The employers have been screened and usually have a relationship with the fashion school.

Nobody can guarantee that your first fashion job, or any job for than matter, will be free of ups and downs. In fashion school you'll learn the business of fashion, time management, how to work with a variety of people, and how to deal with demanding, perhaps even unreasonable fashion school professors.

Fashion school will give you the skills you need to succeed not only in your first fashion job, but your entire career.
