Balenciaga's Clothing Designs Featured in Paris Museum

The famed career in fashion of Cristobal Balenciaga is on display at the Musée de la Mode et du Textile in Paris. This event couldn't serve as a better excuse for fashion school students to visit the City of Light. Fashion School Summer Break
You might also notice the stamp of current Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere on the show; he served as co-curator of the event and has been designing for the fashion house since 1995. But don't worry if you can't make the show this summer. You'll have a chance to catch it through January, 2007. While Paris can be a bit rainy and cold (or snowy) in winter, it's also nearly deserted of tourists, making it much easier to linger in your favorite café and stroll congested-free side walks. What else can fashion-forward students seeking a career in fashion busy themselves with during a trip to one of Europe's most important fashion capitals? Window shopping, of course. You'll find some of the most extravagantly decorated windows in Parisian shops. You don't need to go far to find them; just about any neighborhood within the center of Paris offers a variety of purveyors displaying the latest clothing designs. Hobnob with Clothing DesignersWhile you're there, why not set up some interviews with fashion houses? Get a head start on your career in fashion--or at least your fashion job search--by talking to some of Paris' fashion elite. You may not be able to track them down, but it's certainly worth a shot.Probably the biggest value of taking a trip to Paris, besides seeing some gorgeous Balenciaga creations, is to take a well-deserved break from fashion school and find inspiration for your next collection of clothing designs.
