Anyone following the fashion shows in Milan might find it hard to choose their favourite fashion designer. For me, however, it has to be John Galliano, for his sheer daring in fashion design, and the inclusion of ordinary people as models. It's something worth remembering when you go to fashion school. Galliano's Love Affair Started with Textiles in Spain
John Galliano's Education at Fashion School, and beyondAt sixteen, Galliano studied design at City and East London College. Afterwards he went to fashion school. In spite of twice losing backers in the 1990's, Galliano moved to Givenchy, then Christian Dior. In spite of the caliber of these fashion jobs, he remains down to earth and interested in textiles as much as ever. His old-fashioned fashion schooling shows, and he now produces 12 collections a year.Galliano's Fashion Designs Milan 2006The theme for Galliano's recent Milan show was "everything is beautiful," and was inspired by the ordinary, colorful people he saw on a recent trip to Buenos Aires. Galliano's size ten fashion designs were remade for a mixture of tall, short, thin, medium-sized and bigger actors. The result brought smiles to the most jaded faces. Surely this fashion designer deserved to be the hit of the show. If only fashion design could go even further down this route. Please remember this after fashion school.Sources About the Author Fran Walker is a freelance writer, editor, and researcher specializing in educational, health, safety, and domestic issues.
