If you're interested in developing a career in the fashion industry but don’t believe you have the kind of creative talent needed to be a fashion designer, why not consider fashion marketing?

A career in fashion marketing is equally as creative, challenging, fast-paced and rewarding as fashion design, and it too provides opportunities to drive trends and sales in fashion.

Developing a fashion marketing career requires creativity of a different kind to fashion design, but it is a creative career choice nonetheless. You'll also need good business sense and an understanding of how the fashion industry operates. Some of this you may already have, the rest you’ll need to learn.

A fashion marketing degree is the ideal preparation for a career in fashion marketing. That may sound obvious but there are other ways into a fashion marketing career. A general marketing degree will provide you with an education in marketing principles that could be applied in fashion merchandising jobs and could gain you entry-level employment in the fashion industry.

The advantage of a fashion marketing degree is that you'll learn about the fashion industry and how to apply the principles of marketing within it. These are aspects that can be learnt through experience but, in such a competitive job market, your chances of getting that all-important foot in the door are greatly increased if you have a fashion marketing degree.

What's it All About?

A fashion marketing career is essentially about selling fashion. Your fashion marketing course will give you the theoretical knowledge you'll need – such as the development of sales strategies, merchandising practices, and trend analysis – and show you how these theories translate into practice.

You'll learn about how business is conducted with the fashion industry, and the terminology used. Perhaps most importantly, you'll graduate with a certificate that proves to employers that you are committed to a career in fashion marketing.
