We all know about the hard work and competition when trying to get fashion design jobs. Working as an associate fashion designer can be a smart move after fashion school. Working with a fashion designer will give you some excellent experience with trimming and textiles, allow you to show off your technical knowledge and build on your networking and sourcing skills. Many campus and online degree programs offer assistance to students to help them find internships so that they can get experience and further build their portfolios.

Other Options Involving Fashion Design

While at fashion school, you may realize that you have a particular talent which could lead you down a slightly different fashion design route. If your technical skills and pattern design skills are second to none, you may wish to become a highly specialized technical fashion designer. If you love the theatrics of the runway above all else, you may also decide you want to be a costume designer. The most important thing is to keep your eyes and your mind open to the fashion design jobs on offer.
